A master’s course in tax law for senior executives. My task was to meet the challenge of transforming a face to face course to online learning.

LLM International Tax Law

A tax law masters for mid-career and senior executives. The first module went live in late 2018 and the course has progressively rolled out since then.

The challenge

The LLM had been running for several years as a face-to-face course. Mastering the topics and ideas requires more analysis and in-depth reading than is needed in other fields. The challenge lay in translating existing content and activities to online.

We organised a series of brainstorming sessions with the Law School to communicate the possibilities offered by e-learning - explaining how video, graphics and games could be used to support engaging and effective content. From the instructional design perspective, we were able to break down the learning logically into chunks, introducing challenging scenarios and asking students to reflect deeply on cases.

My role

  • Initial design meetings and workshop, problem solving the transition from face-to-face to online
  • Writing Adapt and Moodle storyboards, briefing graphic designers and video team
  • Audio interviews for subject matter experts
